| Learn the nature of educational research, types, terminology. Read instructor-selected research articles and write literature reviews. Students will be collecting research related to their planned thesis/project. Write a detailed, formal proposal of your masters thesis/project and present it to the class. Class reviews and critiques proposals. Required Textbook: to be announced. | Collect 10 – 15 articles on your area of interest – write a meta-analysis. Write a detailed proposal for a hypothetical research project you could conduct. Present it to the class. | Focus specifically on how to communicate and collaborate with students via the Internet. A short list of activities: create our own classroom web pages, develop methods for collecting online submissions of student work, communicating with students, parents, peers through online resources – blogs, wikis, podcasts, chats, email, discussions, teleconferencing, using online cyber-community tools (Second Life), online testing and assessment tools, and so on |
